Background knowledge of the breed

A Miniature Pinscher is a smaller version of the German Pinscher, as you know. However, its appearance is a bit reminiscent of a Dobermann's, but these two breeds are not related, although you might think so when you just see the breeds. The Miniature Pinscher is a cheerful dog that will function perfectly in an active family who enjoys a brisk walk every day. Despite its small nature, the breed is always brave and ready for challenges. The Miniature Pinscher is a small and extremely sweet dog, which possesses a large portion of charm that you can hardly stand for. In addition to this, the breed is also an intelligent dog, which is suitable for obedience training if you feel like using the breed for this. Despite its small size, it is important to give the breed a consistent and determined upbringing in order for it to know who is in charge. In this way, the dog will automatically develop respect for you as its owner. If one does not manage to educate the dog sufficiently, it can develop habits like barking and become a bit hysterical if not enough limits are set for it.

It is important to socialize the breed from a young age. You will definitely want to start puppy training with the dog, because it will benefit you in the future. It is a very intelligent breed that learns new commands incredibly fast, and if you manage to utilize this in a good way, then you have a friend for life in the breed. However, the breed is not good for smaller children, as playtime can often become too violent for it, which will result in the dog withdrawing from playing. The Miniature Pinscher is generally a vigilant breed that will bark if it sees something suspicious. However, due to its small size, it is not much of a watchdog.

The miniature version of the German Pinscher is clever, docile and incredibly self-confident. The size alone makes it suitable as a companion dog in even the smallest homes. Due to its kind nature, this is a dog that you can raise, regardless of your age and previous dog experience. The breed will thrive in apartments, but it will definitely also appreciate living in a house where it can be allowed to run around freely. Although the Miniature Pinscher is very small, it finds great pleasure in moving around. An appropriate amount of daily exercise reduces the risk of obesity, which can be a major issue for the small creature and its slender body. The miniature form of German Pinscher originated as a natural mutation, and it was already known in the 16th century. Especially in the late 1800s, it was a favorite companion dog for the upper class ladies. At the time, the dogs could not be small and delicate enough - an attitude that fortunately has changed later with time. Typical characteristics of the Miniature Pinscher, such as domed heads, small pointed snouts and large, protruding eyes as well as anxious nature are now undesirable in the Miniature Pinscher, which should look like a real dog. The breed grows to about 25-30 cm with a weight of 4-5 kg.

The activity level of the breed

The breed loves to play with its people. It really wants something to happen, and it will not thrive on just sitting at home, not being able to use any of all its energy.

Fur care and hygiene

The breed's fur is very short, dense, shiny and smooth. The fur care is almost non-existing, but a daily wipe with a damp cloth works wonders, as it removes dust and loose hair. Pay attention to the claws, which can easily become too long due to restrained exercise. Make sure to clean the teeth when needed, so that you avoid tartar.

Management of the breed

The breed is teachable and cooperative if you keep working it and remember to take its small size into account when training.
