A French bulldog is a friendly, nice and not least quite charming dog. The breed has a habit of finding one particular favorite person in the family, to which it then attaches itself even more than the rest of the family. The breed is always tolerante in terms of the children of the family and is sociable and unproblematic towards strangers. However, with its distant past as a fighting dog, it can behave defiantly towards other dogs, and you must be aware if you want such a dog. A French Bulldog needs to be socialized early with children and other dogs, and it will also love to have a life as the center of attention in the house. The French Bulldog is thought to have descended from small versions of the Spanish Bullfighting dogs that came to Paris in the late 1800s. They were crossed with English Miniature Bulldogs, possibly brought by textile workers who had moved from England to Normandy out of bitter distress. In the 1880s, it was the dog of dragons, butchers and drivers in the famous halls, but also the artist community and the upper class community fell for its very special appearance and character. Today, the French Bulldog is widespread as a companion dog throughout the world. The breed grows to 30-32 cm with a weight of 8-14 kg.
All Bulldogs have in common that they are individualists, and there are great variations within the breed. In general, the pleasant companion dogs are in a quiet family, which easily adapts to the family's activity level.
The short and close-fitting coat of the breed is kept free of loose hair with a daily wiping with a wrung-out cloth. The lip folds must be kept clean, and the teeth must be regularly cleaned of tartar, which the breed unfortunately suffers a great deal from. Due to the dog's nose, it may have problems with its breathing.
The upbringing of a French Bulldog requires patience and kind consistency, respecting its boundaries and funny nature. It is a good idea to train variedly in short sequences so that the dog's attention is maintained.
