Boomer Dog for sale! Get to know the breed

If you want to be part of the brand new wave of dog breeds, a Boomer dog is a great choice. The breed is a new breed and is a combination of the pure breeds, the Maltese and Shih Tzu. Since the breed is still a new breed, there is no guarantee of what temperament it is going to get in its adulthood. However, the Maltese and Shih Tzus have similar temperament, which provides a good frame of reference. This cross also goes by the name Malchi, but is often called Boomer as the breed was discovered in a Dutch TV series in the 80s, where it had that name. Given that it is a fairly new mixed breed at home, it is not possible to have your puppy registered in a pedigree if you want it.

Appearance and caretaking

The breed is small and can, as an adult, weigh somewhere between 3 and 7 kg and become somewhere between 20-28 cm high. As it is a mixture of different breeds, the span is slightly larger than in pure breeds, as one can not guarantee a certain size when the cross is so new.

As with the dog’s size, fur type and color can also vary. Many people choose to have this breed cut in the modern "teddy bear cut", so they look like small teddy bears. If you let their fur grow, they will be able to get long hair. In order to ensure that the hair bothers the dog as little as possible, many owners put a little rubber band in the fringe. Most dogs of this breed have a light coat, which differs from completely white to a more brownish color, and preferably several color shades at once. Some of the dogs also get a completely black color.

Since the dog does not shed, you must be aware that it requires a lot of fur care, as with many other small companion dogs. That means trimming and bathing regularly. It is important to keep this in mind when there is a Boomer dog for sale. As with many other small dogs, one should also pay attention to dental care and nail care. The teeth of small dogs are more delicate and require regular toothbrushing and occasionally a thorough tooth cleaning at the vet. Such an attention-seeking breed as this one can also have a tendency to indulge in treats. However, since a Boomer is relatively small, you have to be very mindful of the dog’s weight and it is therefore a good idea to minimize the pampering.

Temperament and activity level

This dog is known as a companion dog, which means that it is a dog that thrives best with a lot of human contact and socializing. Since it is a small dog, it does not require much exercise, but it is still a very active and playful dog. Therefore, it is important to stimulate it daily with play and fun activities. Activities could be in the form of training, as a Boomer is very teachable and responsive to his people. A Boomer has a very gentle mind and has no issues getting along with other people and animals if it is accustomed to it from youth. At the same time, you should expect it to seek contact at all times, so you have to be prepared to give it a lot of attention. It can also be a good idea to bring the dog to work if that is a possibility.

Small breeds like this are also known as circus dogs as they love to do tricks. So if you have the courage, you can get a lot of fun out of this little dog, and the entertainment value is top notch. To return to the Dutch TV show where the breed was first discovered, it is clear that we are dealing with a dog that is good at learning. In the show, there are examples of how the dog hides in a closet, pulls another female out of a car and even puts stuff in the mailbox. Along with its soft appearance, it is understandable why so many people fall in love with this breed.

Does it fit into my family?

Since a Boomer is a social dog with a great need for contact, the breed will not be suitable for the modern busy family. If, on the other hand, you work at home, or have the opportunity to take the dog to work, it will thrive greatly with you.

As it is a sociable breed, children in the family will also benefit from the dog. Its playful mind means that the dog and children will be able to enjoy entertaining each other. Its small size also means that older children can easily help look after the dog and, for example, walk or teach it some new tricks.

What you should be aware of when having such a Boomer as a family with children, is the great amount of work that needs to be put into fur care. If the dog is out playing, you should expect that the dog will need a shower right after. At the same time, it can be recommended that you put some money aside for fur care done by a professional, if you do not have the time or courage to trim the dog often.

When you find a Boomer dog for sale, it is important to remember that you will have a companion for the next many years. WIth the right care, this breed can be up to 15 years old.
