History of the Bodeguero

The small dog is originally from Spain, and its full name is Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz, which means wine cellar-rat-hunting-dog. The name refers to its main occupation for which it is bred. Many Spaniards used the dog to make sure there were no rats or mice in their wine cellars. The name also refers to the fact that it comes from Andalusia in Spain.

In 2000, the dog was recognized as a Spanish breed by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and the Spanish Kennel Club, called Real Sociedad Canina de Espanã. It is native to the Fox Terrier and was bred by English wine merchants who settled in Spain. Several hundred years ago, Marco de Jerez brought the ancestors to the Spanish breed, and since then the original Fox Terriers have been crossed with local dogs, which has given us this breed.

During the 20th century, the Toy Terrier was also crossed into the breed, and at the end of 1900, the first club for the breed started. In addition to its approval by the Spanish Ministry of Food and the Spanish Kennel Club, the breed is also recognized by a large number of smaller kennel clubs in the world. However, one must also be careful when searching for a Bodegueros for sale, given that some owners cheat with their pedigrees. If you want to be sure that you are buying a purebred Bodegueros, you must choose a dog that is approved in one of the recognized federations / kennel clubs. It can easily be confused with other terrier breeds, which is why one should thoroughly examine when buying a Bodegueros to see if it actually comes from Spanish origin.

Bodeguero for sale

If you are looking for a Bodeguero for sale, you will find various sellers who bred this particular breed of dog. As we mentioned before, you have to think about whether the seller is credible in relation to getting purebred with Spanish roots, rather than one of the other terrier breeds.

Next, you need to find out what color and mark you want your future dog to have, because you can get a Bodeguero with both black and red markings. In rare cases, you can get a dog completely without markings in a pure white color. Last, there is the size to consider if it matters to the dog purchase that you would like to make. A Bodeguero can vary quite a bit in weight and size, and the size of the parents can give a good indication of how big the puppies in the litter will get.
