Jasper is our handsome 2 year old Border Collie x who originally came into our care from the Christchurch City Council Shelter in June, was adopted and then returned to our care in September.

Jasper is an extremely sweet dog who just wants to snuggle up against you but he can be an anxious dog and he would best suit an experienced home. Jasper needs a home that is able to work at his own speed and can read his body language (we will help with this) to assess if he is feeling unsure or anxious. Our behaviour team will have a safety management plan in place to help settle him into the home and set the boundaries that he needs. Jasper needs to go to an adult only home or a home with dog savvy older teenagers (15+).

Jasper has some great training under his belt and loves to learn. He walks very well on the lead and is a tidy boy in his kennel. He absolutely loves his squeaky toys and we often just hear him squeaking away with his toys in his yard.

He has socialised well with a couple of our female dogs here at the shelter and loves to have a good hoon around the yard with them. He can be a bit awkward when meeting other dogs and needs careful introduction to other dogs. He has not been keen on other male dogs yet. Jasper is cat trainable and could live with a cat providing there is slow introductions and good management.
